Mary Cassatt
Mary Cassatt, born in 1844 in Pennsylvania, was a distinguished American painter and printmaker who became a prominent member of the French Impressionists. Known for her perceptive depictions of women and children in intimate settings, her work emphasizes the private and social lives of women, challenging the norms of her time. After studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Cassatt moved to Paris, where she developed her signature style under the influence of Edgar Degas. Residing in France for most of her life, Cassatt's innovative compositions and vibrant techniques contributed significantly to the Impressionist movement until her death in 1926.
