Here we have a magical image of a painting from the year 1913 called The Bewitched Mill by Franz Marc, a German artist. Marc was a pivotal figure in German Expressionism, co-founding the Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) journal. Marc's work is renowned for its vivid, emotional portrayal of animals, which he believed possessed a purity and innocence lost to humanity. He once asked, "Is there a more mysterious idea than to imagine how nature is reflected in the eyes of animals?" After getting a sense of magic and harmony during his travels to an Italian town called Merano, Marc painted The Bewitched Mill to capture that feeling. Utilizing bold colors and abstract forms, his art sought to express profound spiritual truths. Marc's unique vision and tragic death in World War I left a lasting impact on the Expressionist movement.
